1972 - Presidential Commission report (recommending decriminalization) IGNORED!!!

Politics over science (and common sense), again. A Watergate beleaguered Richard Nixon wastecans his own National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse recommendations, condemning the United States to another three decades of dark ages, 100 billion mispent $$ (1), and 14 million arrests (2). When the blue ribbon panel, headed by Republican Pennsylvania Gov. Ray Shafer, submitted its report, recommending decriminalization of personal use marijuana, Nixon trashed it, commenting in private: every one of the bastards that are out for legalizing marijuana is Jewish."
